Boating and fishing in the Everglades National Park and surrounding parks have additional rules and guidelines to follow, as well as the State of Florida Regulations and rules. Below are some helpful links and information when planning your trip.
The Ten Thousand Islands are a maze of mangroves and islands that can become very confusing to unfamiliar boaters. NOAA chart use is recommended. Be aware of water depth, as shallow water spots are common.
Everglades National Park is one of many parks that require a pass to enter. If you are stopped by a Park Ranger while boating or fishing within the park, you may be asked to show your Park Pass. Passes are available online or at participating visitor centers.
As of August 2019, you are now required to have an Everglades Boater Education Certificate to operate a vessel within the park. This is a free course, and you will be asked for proof of completion if stopped by a Park Ranger or FWC officer while boating in the National Park.
